Biography

LuLu Meng is a NYC-based artist born in Taipei. She is predominantly works in installation and sculpture, along with video, drawing, painting and photography.

Impelled by the similarity and difference of people and cultures, Meng recreates every-day objects, modified to be distinct, to represent the individuals. These objects accumulate to construct large installation to prompt the reconsideration of their original context and implication.

Her works have been shown in Cuchifritos Gallery (New York, NY), New York Hall of Science(Queens, NY), Queens Botanical Garden(Queens, NY), Power Plant gallery (Durham, NC), Berkeley Art Center(Berkeley, CA), William Harris Gallery(Rochester, NY), DordtYart Art Center(Dordrecht, Netherland). Her residencies include Experimental Film Virginia, VA (2016); Residency Unlimited, NY (2015); Vermont Studio Center, VT (2015); Kala Art Institute, CA (2015); DordtYart Residency, Dordrecht, Netherlands (2014); Waasland Artistic Projects, Sint-Niklass, Belgium (2013). She is a recipient of Artist in the Marketplace, Bronx Museum of the Arts, NY (2016). Immigrant Artist Mentoring Program, NYFA (2016). Meng holds a B.A. from National Taiwan University and a MFA in Imaging Arts from Rochester Institute of Technology.
